Torque Motors vs. Servo Motors vs. VFDs in Tension Control Systems

Torque motors, servo motors, and VFDs are all used in tension control, but they serve different purposes. Torque motors are ideal for simple winding/unwinding applications. Servo motors are best for high-precision, multi-axis synchronization. VFDs are suitable for AC motor systems, especially when integrated with torque control, load cells, dancer rollers, or dedicated winder/unwinder functions.
